Every ORC needs a heat sink. The absorption chiller is for sites that also need cooling.
Dry coolers and absorption chillers
Dry coolers are sized with each ORC; BPOWER’s standard liquid-loop radiator runs 11 K above ambient air. A colder heat sink means more electricity, so the Nordic climate helps ORC output for most of the year.
Absorption chillers from 30 kW use hot water, steam, flue gas or thermal oil to make chilled water at 2–20 °C. Combined with an ORC, one heat source then gives power, heat and cooling.
