ORC turbines / Cooling-to-power
Cooling-to-power: ElectraTherm Active Cooler
For sites that must cool hot water anyway, such as engines, compressors and biogas plants, and that want the cooler to make power.
Active Cooler AC800
The ElectraTherm Active Cooler AC800 replaces or relieves a radiator. It covers 70–100 % of the cooling load and generates electricity whenever the cooling demand allows. It goes from off to full load in 60 seconds, and if the ORC trips it keeps cooling in bypass.

Technical data
| Model | Electrical output | Cooling capacity | Hot-water temperature | Hot-water flow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active Cooler AC800 | up to 75 kWe gross, 65 kWe net | up to 800 kW | 70–150 °C | 3–15 l/s |
2.3 × 10.1 × 2.0 m, 6,500 kg; skid version 2.4 × 9.5 × 1.75 m, 4,800 kg · heat loads above 800 kW may need a custom design · gaseous heat sources need an extra heat exchanger.
Pilot: biogas plant in Poland
Engine jacket water feeds the first Active Cooler. It generates 35 kWe and removes an 8 kW radiator load: 45 kW of new net power and a 5.5 % gain in site efficiency.
ElectraTherm case: an AC800 on a 1.6 MW engine running 8,000 h a year produces 616 MWh a year.
